About Us

BUTTERFLIES DAY NURSERY

Hello and Welcome to Butterflies Day Nursery, my name is Clair and I am the Director of the setting. The setting opened it's doors in November 2008. I joined the setting as the new manager in September 2011,  then became the proud owner in October 2015, and I have never looked back! I work with an amazing team of Managers and  Early years educators . We work tirelessly together to ensure Butterflies is a happy, safe and exciting place for children to learn and grow to their full potential.

At Butterflies we find ourselves very lucky as we have a purpose-built building with fantastic facilities, there are five separate rooms spread over the ground floor of the building which are large, open plan spaces. At Butterflies we aim to create a warm and nurturing environment in which children can be physically safe but also feel emotionally safe too.  We respect each child’s individual needs and value each child’s ability to reach their full potential and develop confidence in their own abilities.

We pride ourselves in providing the children with sensory and open-ended resources, which encourages and builds on their curiosity in everyday objects around them and how they can be used to fulfil their individual schemas.

To us, play is not something which is done alongside learning, play is learning!

OUR FACILITIES

The setting has five rooms Poppy, Daisy, Bluebell, Buttercup and Pre-school. The rooms are not age specific but are more centred around an individual child’s needs and development both physically and emotionally.
We use the Early years Foundation stage within the setting to help guide us on tracking the children’s development. This is  used inline with an online learning journey system called Tapestry, where we are able to document and upload snap shots of your children’s play and learning, which you can access anytime. The information we collect from these snap shots and observations help us to build on future planning.

Our outdoor area is a large gated area which compromises of a barked area for construction, digging and exploration. Also an area of soft rubber mulch which is very durable; this area is used for the Poppy, Daisy and Bluebell rooms and can be used in all weathers. We then have another gated area at the opposite side of the building for the Buttercup and Pre-School children which has more age appropriate resources for playing and learning, this area has opportunities for growing and planting their own plants and vegetables.

Our setting has a professionally equipped kitchen with the best facilities; we follow the ‘Eat better start better’ and the 2017 Healthy eating guidance from the government. We pride ourselves in creating healthy, well-balanced meals, which include and cater for all dietary requirements.
We work in partnership with local educational business who regularly attend the setting to give the children different learning opportunities, we have, Debutots (Interactive Storytelling and Dramatic Play group), Music with Mummy (Music classes encouraging listening and social skills) and Zoo-lab (Animal handling workshops).

The setting is open from 7am until 6:30pm Monday to Friday, 51 weeks of the year.
